Innovating solutions
for optimal solar and thermal comfort

Chisholm College, Australia

When designing the access and language building at the Chisholm Institute of TAFE, Cox Architects and Planners wanted to give more character to the school and created a prominent entrance to the campus. A combination of Danpalon® and glass provide a total transparency effect. Danpalon® 16 ice comprising the facades form an envelope of light in the East and West wings of the prism where the the classrooms are.

Cox explains that the glass and polycarbonate have a dual purpose:

• a misty effect
• translucency that lets natural daylight into the interior

They also wanted to give the building a massive, milky and opalescent structure. When the building is lit from the inside, the Chisholm Institute campus appears to give a light and airy impression.
